Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients - How to Unlock Plunder's Point

POE 2 May-22-2026 PST
The world of Path of Exile 2 continues to evolve with new challenges, hidden encounters, and valuable Expedition POE2 Currency rewards. One of the most important progression gates in the "Return of the Ancients" content is unlocking Plunder's Point once again. Many players arrive at Kingsmarch only to discover they can no longer access the area until every Map Piece has been recovered.

Fortunately, the process is straightforward once you know where to look.

Why Plunder's Point Matters

Plunder's Point serves as a key Expedition hub tied to Dannig and valuable late-game encounters. Unlocking it allows players to continue the nautical storyline, access additional rewards, and push deeper into the seasonal content loop.

If you skip even one Map Piece, however, the route remains sealed.

That means completing this objective should be a top priority before advancing further into Act 4 exploration.

All 4 Map Piece Locations

Each Map Piece is found in the very first zone of its respective island. Better yet, every piece is positioned close to a checkpoint, making the hunt fast and efficient.

Piece 1 - Kedge Bay

Travel to Kedge Bay and search near the Smuggler's Stash checkpoint. You will find the Map Piece inside the Dead Man's Chest nearby.

Piece 2 - Whakapanu Island

Head to Whakapanu Island and locate the Petrified Pirate checkpoint. The Map Piece can be collected from the Petrified Pirate object beside it.

Piece 3 - Shrike Island

On Shrike Island, move toward the Corpse Nest Cave checkpoint. The nearby Corpse Nest contains the third Map Piece.

Piece 4 - Isle of Kin

Your final stop is Isle of Kin. Near the Flayed Sailor checkpoint, inspect the Flayed Sailor to recover the last piece.

Turning In the Pieces

Once all four fragments are collected, return to Kingsmarch.

Follow these steps:

Travel to the docks area

Speak with Makoru aboard the ship

Hand over all 4 Map Pieces

Watch the full map become assembled

After the hand-in is complete, Plunder's Point becomes accessible once more.

Returning to Plunder's Point

With the route restored, you can sail back to Plunder's Point and summon Dannig to begin the Expedition encounter chain. This opens the door to additional loot opportunities, tougher enemies, and more advanced progression systems tied to the update.

For efficient players, this questline is one of the fastest ways to regain access to high-value Expedition content.

Whether you are farming rewards, chasing lore, or preparing for cheap POE2 Currency tougher endgame battles, recovering the four Map Pieces is an essential milestone in the Return of the Ancients journey. Here is an exclusive promo code just for gamers: enter "candy" to unlock special player perks and enjoy a 5% discount on your purchase!
