Mastering Last Epoch’s Endgame: A Complete Guide for New and Returning Players

Last Epoch Mar-25-2026 PST

This guide will walk you through the process of starting your journey in Last Epoch, especially focusing on how to progress through the endgame as a new or returning player. Having plenty of Last Epoch gold can also be of great help to you. This guide will cover the basics of the campaign, unlocking key endgame mechanics, and everything you should aim for as you progress. Let's get started!

Step 1: Getting Started in the Campaign

When you start a new character, your first task is to simply get through the campaign. In my experience, the goal is to reach level 40-50, unlocking passive points and idol slots. These are essential for enhancing your character’s power and for progressing through the endgame.

For this walkthrough, let’s create a character and dive into the campaign. You’ll be going through various quests, starting from the Old Road to the Keeper’s Camp. You’ll encounter different eras and bosses, but I won’t spoil any details here. Here’s a general breakdown of the areas you’ll visit:

Old Road to Keeper’s Camp: The first stop, where you start your journey.

Summit: You’ll fight your first boss here and be transported to the Ruined Era.

Ruined Era: Do side quests, head to the Cultist Camp, and then the Sanctum Bastille.

Imperial Era: Travel through different locations like the Shining Cove, Oracle’s Abode, and more, culminating in a boss fight.

Divine Era: Visit Hiaboreia, the Wingari Fortress, and face another boss.

Frozen Roots & Moriditis: After defeating a boss here, you’ll be set for unlocking passive points and idol slots.

Once you’ve completed all of these acts and defeated the tree boss (sorry, no spoilers!), you’ll have completed all the main campaign quests. At this stage, you’ll be around level 40 and can start focusing on gathering your passive points and idol rewards.

Step 2: Completing Side Quests for Passive Points and Idol Slots

Now that you’re past the main storyline, it’s time to collect your passive points and idol slots. The key areas for this are:

Imperial Era - Ulia’s Haven: Complete side quests here to earn a passive point.

Oracle’s Abode & Shining Cove: Unlock the Temporal Sanctum, which is essential for progressing in the endgame.

Ruined Era - The Risen Lake: Completing a portal quest here grants you another idol ana d passive point.

Divine Era - Fortress Walls: This is where you’ll get your final passive point after completing a side quest.

Once you’ve completed these, you’ll have all your passive points and idol slots unlocked. At this point, you’ll be around level 40 and ready to move on to the next phase of the game.

Step 3: The End of Time and Unlocking Monoliths

After hitting level 40 and acquiring your idol slots and passive points, it’s time to progress to the End of Time. Here, you’ll enter the Monolith of Fate, which unlocks endgame content.

The Monolith system is one of the most important parts of Last Epoch’s endgame. Here’s how you should approach it:

Monolith System: The goal here is to progress through different monoliths, fighting bosses, and completing objectives. Eventually, you’ll encounter a Harbinger, a powerful boss that drops useful rewards.

Knowledge Points: Defeating these bosses will grant you knowledge points, which are essential for unlocking more advanced areas. Aim for at least five knowledge points before moving on to more challenging zones.

Once you’ve acquired your knowledge points, you’ll unlock Level 90 Zones. These zones contain powerful harbingers that drop valuable loot. By now, you should be level 70 or so, which is an ideal range to tackle these areas.

Step 4: Unlocking the Temporal Sanctum

After reaching level 70 and completing the necessary Monoliths, you’ll gain access to the Temporal Sanctum, a crucial dungeon for progressing in the endgame. Here’s what to do:

Obtain a Temporal Sanctum Key: You’ll need this key to enter the dungeon and face its boss.

Use the Portal Charm: Once inside the Temporal Sanctum, use your portal charm to skip the dungeon’s traps and go directly to the boss fight.

Defeat the Boss: This boss should be relatively easy for players around level 70. After defeating it, you’ll gain access to further content and progression options.

Once you’ve completed the Temporal Sanctum and defeated the boss, you’ll be able to interact with the Eternity Cache, unlocking even more powerful content.

Step 5: Choosing Your Faction

At this point, you’ll want to choose a faction. The two factions are:

The Bizarre: Focuses on earning extra loot and various bonuses.

The Observatory: This faction gives access to special buffs that are useful for leveling and gearing up.

Choosing a faction doesn’t require much preparation. It’s simply a matter of progressing through the game and choosing the faction that suits your style.

Step 6: Woven Echoes and Endgame Enhancements

Woven Echoes is an important mechanic that allows you to enhance your character further. As you progress through Monoliths, you’ll encounter Cemeteries of the Erased, where you can farm Woven Echoes by killing enemies and completing bosses.

Here’s how to approach it:

Farm Woven Echoes: These can be found by killing rare enemies in the Cemeteries.

Use Woven Echoes for Tree Points: These Echoes are used to progress through the Woven Echo tree, unlocking powerful passive abilities.

The first nodes I recommend unlocking are related to Echo Chance and Woven Fortunes, as these give you more chances to acquire Woven Echoes as you progress through the game.

Step 7: Primordial Beasts and Final Progression

As you explore Monoliths and progress through various zones, you’ll eventually encounter Primordial Beasts. These are powerful enemies that drop valuable loot. Defeating them is essential for endgame progression, but this is something you’ll gradually encounter as you go deeper into the Monoliths.

Conclusion

At this stage, once you’ve completed the main campaign, unlocked your idols and passive points, chosen your faction, and made progress in the Monolith system, you’ll be well on your way to conquering the Last Epoch endgame.

From here, you can choose to pursue specific endgame content like Harbingers, Temporal Sanctums, or challenge yourself with the Monoliths. The journey is long, and the game offers plenty of depth, so don’t worry if you don’t get everything done right away. Focus on improving your character, exploring new content, and unlocking powerful abilities as you go. A large amount of cheap Last Epoch gold can also be of great help to you.
