Madden 26: Best Card at Every Position – Ultimate God Squad Guide
Introduction
Building the ultimate god squad in Madden 26 feels almost impossible because there are so many good cards and theme team options. This guide breaks down the best card at every position based on the base game, not theme team bonuses. Remember, your theme team guy might play better for your specific squad, but these are the top overall cards you should target. If you need to boost your coin balance to afford these top-tier players, you can buy Madden nfl 26 coins from reputable sources to speed up the process.
Offensive Line
Guards and Center
The most valuable offensive linemen are those with zero AP Secure Protector. This ability is by far the best resistance we have against any defensive line, especially when opponents use X-factors.
Quinn Meinerz gets zero AP Secure Protector. Robert Hunt also gets it. Bradberry (the older card) remains one of the best offensive linemen in the game for the same reason.
Damen Lewis also gets zero AP Secure Protector from the Season 7 bucket. I completely missed him initially, but he's an excellent option.
Run three zero AP Secure guys here if possible. You don't want to spend ability points on the offensive line if you don't have to.
Tackles
At tackle, look for guys with zero AP Pass Protector. Any player with 97 strength qualifies.
Paris Johnson (the orange card) is a great option. He gets one AP Secure Protector, which is also very good.
The philosophy remains the same: avoid spending AP on tackles if you can run zero AP options.
Tight End
Kyle Pitts is easily the best base tight end in the game. His 97 base speed is absolutely ridiculous compared to other tight ends. He also has great change of direction and a skinny build that makes him move fast despite his height. As more legends come out and theme teams become cheaper, he'll remain one of the better cards going forward.
(Theme team guys like OJ Howard on Panthers are great for specific builds, but Pitts is the top overall card.)
Wide Receiver
WR1 and WR2
The top two receivers are locked in.
Randy Moss – The brand new card with 97 speed. He's going to be on a billion good theme teams. Team of the Year, plus multiple theme team options make him very easy to fit anywhere.
Jerry Rice – Still a top three receiver easily. He gets every theme team, has built-in Route Tech, and a bunch of zero AP abilities. (Note: he loses some zero APs on the 18th, but built-in Route Tech saves him regardless.) Every theme team guarantees him 99 speed. This card is ridiculous.
WR3
This spot comes down to theme team value, but Xavier Worthy belongs here.
He gives plus one speed to all receivers, helping himself and everyone else on your squad. He's very good in game, and his speed boost helps theme team builds where certain cards wouldn't otherwise hit 99 speed. This card will have value for a long time.
Running Back
K9 (Kenneth Walker III) is unquestionably the best running back in the game.
EA nerfed every X-factor in the game except his. His price dropped to 900k at one point and shot back up to 1.6 million. Cards like McFadden and Clinton Portis came out, but I never moved off K9 because I knew those cards would get nerfed and K9 would remain the best.
Quarterback
Quarterback is the most play style-dependent position in the game.
Peyton Manning has by far the best abilities. I absolutely love this card. BUT – you will be in a lot of bad spots because of his speed. I do NOT recommend this card to the majority of players. You have to play very smart, know your pass protection, be fast with your own decisions, and be good with playmaker. It's not an easy card to use, and I would never recommend it to a newer player.
For the vast majority of players, Caleb Williams is the number one card. He has built-in Gunslinger, plus another zero AP bucket and discounted abilities. He has one of the best ability stacks right next to Peyton Manning while also having 96 speed. That's why I value him here.
Fullback
The only Vanguard card belongs here – The Diesel. It's a tough spot with limited options, but this is the guy.
Safety
Free Safety
This was a disappointing spot when I looked at Minkah and others. I was hoping for good ability buckets like Randy Moss got, but the 99 overalls didn't get them.
Kevin Byard is my pick, even though it sounds insane. He doesn't get all theme teams. He's shorter. But he has built-in Mid Zone, gets another zero AP bucket, and one AP Deep Zone. This card is absolutely ridiculous.
Look past the height – he'll be knocking stuff out. He gets great theme teams (Titans, Eagles, Bears). Built-in Mid Zone is incredibly valuable. I'll take that every single day over half the cards in the game. He always plays well in Madden.
Strong Safety
Kyle Hamilton is locked in here. I think his built-in is Deep Zone KO, which makes him even more valuable. A lot of people want to use him at user, but his built-in basically forces you to run him up top, and Deep Zone KO is one of the best abilities in the game.
With Byard and Hamilton, you have two insane safeties. Mid Zone activates a lot on digs and posts, so running both coverage types covers everything.
Outside Linebacker
Bobby Sprain gets the nod here.
He has built-in Mid Zone, which makes him very good. Same theory as Kevin Byard – built-in abilities are incredibly valuable. Yes, he's not the fastest, but you're looking at speed and height with these guys, and his ability stack makes up for it.
(FOY aside has benefits but no discounts, which is a troll by EA. Peppers is theme team dependent and not the fastest.)
Middle Linebacker
Shazier is my number one. He gives plus one speed to all MLBs, which brings immediate value to your entire linebacker corps.
Roquan is also a great card. These are all insane linebackers.
But the best linebacker in the game by far – ten times better than all these guys combined – is Sunny Styles.
He has an X-factor on his card that will never get nerfed. One AP Reinforcement destroys run blocks, is very good, and acts like a KO that knocks down passes. He gets every theme team and will be 99 speed for you. Sunny Styles is probably the best card in the game right now, period.
Cornerback
Corner 1 and 2
We just got two incredible corners that I'm insta-locking.
Randy Moss (Cornerback version) gets two zero AP abilities. Zero AP One Step Ahead. Zero AP Deep Zone. You can get crazy ability stacks on this guy. He gets so many discounted buckets that you could even run a hybrid scheme if you wanted. He's 6'4.
Herb Adderley – Also ridiculous. 6'1, great abilities, and both these cards could be obtained for free by grinding tokens. That's insane value. Team of the Year took 65 tokens and were sellable, but these guys let you pick your zero APs and you get double the value.
Corner 3
Theme team dependent, but I'm locking in Jalen Ramsey. 98 base speed means you only need a 20 theme team or Nate Wiggins (who gives plus one speed to corners) to hit 99 speed.
Nate Wiggins deserves an honorable mention at corner 4. Like Shazier and Sunny Styles, he gives plus one speed to his position. He's incredibly valuable for making all your corners faster, including Ramsey.
These are the four best corners in the game right now, no matter what theme team you run.
Defensive Line
Since EA nerfed the X-factors, only AKA guys start with X-factors active.
The Manster – Nobody really paid attention to this card until the Combine nerf. Now he starts with an X-factor in game. You can add another ability to keep it on longer, add Indoor Baller to turn it on faster, whatever you want. He's an absolute dog. Great card.
The Mullet Maniac – Another AKA card where you can rock out with a starting X-factor.
During Combine, I literally saw people get stops only because their X-factor linemen made plays. These two have starting X-factors, making them the best D-line cards.
Right End
For position accuracy, I'll lock in Von Miller. He gets one sack with Indoor Baller and his X-factor stays on all game long. That's better value than guys like Myles Garrett (Fearmonger isn't good) or LT (X-factor turns off). Will Anderson is also an option – he and Von Miller are basically the exact same card.
